Pre-dawn over Bozeman: This image was made during a test flight with a Kenyon Laboratory KS6 gyro-stabilizer. The image was taken with a Canon 5D, 24–70mm at 34 mm, iso 1600, 2.8, and 1/60th.

Today was the second test flight with a imaging spectrometer developed by Resonon of Bozeman. In this preliminary data from the flight, higher density of live plant growth is shown in white, while dead plant matter/non plant matter is shown in black.

The unit is self contained, with an on board GPS/AMU unit which will be able to operate autonomously once positioned over specific project sites. Although the unit was developed for unmanned drone aircraft, the kind people at Resonon have judged me to be slightly more dependable than a drone.

San Francisco fine art photographer and pilot Michael Light contacted me some months ago after reading about my work in a Lighthawk publication. He stayed with us at Farm 51 this week, and I flew him around the mines and mountains of southwest Montana.

Wildlife Art Journal recently showcased my work in an article by talented writer Todd Wilkinson. Read it here
