Aerial photography combines the important data of a map while also facilitating a more intuitive understanding of place. It shows you the defining physical parameters of topography, climate, and habitat type while simultaneously communicating the more esoteric facets of a landscape: wildness, desolation, change.

It is often difficult to just look at an aerial photograph without taking the time to travel through it.
